Calling All Sports Illustrated Swin Suit Model Scouts.........

With the never ending spring showers finally beginning to dwindle, we have just recently began to bask in the heat of summer. With our first official swim date on the calendar, Camdyn and I decided it was time to fit our little Lilly with the adorable, miniature swimsuit we found at Target several months ago.....little did we anticipate the challenge to ensue.

While Lilly may have initially failed to thrive in the weight department, our little chow hound has been rapidly making up ground....apparently so much ground, that the little rolls and dimples we have come to love, were not willingly wrangled by a small piece of flowery pink spandex. Ten minutes, several tears, a sweaty brow for Mom and lots of giggles for Camdyn later, our mission was accomplished.....the large majority of Lilly was fully encased. Move over US Winter Olympic Team swimsuit models....this mom's calling Sports Illustrated.

On Your Marks, Get Set........Trike!

The Weer family had an absolutely crazy busy weekend, with Camdyn proudly taking her position at the helm. We kicked off Friday with our first ever Trike-a-Thon and our own little speed racer proudly cruising the streets of Enterprise (with just a bit of help from her momma), and speeding across the official finish line near the top of the pack. She was so excited by her "racing necklace" and the after course snacks she was begging to race again the rest of the morning........hopefully next time she will actually be able to reach her own pedals!

The Bestest Dad in the World!

How did our amazing Daddy and Husband spend his Father's Day weekend?!?!? Instead of being pampered and spoiled, this Father of the Year spent his hours building the ultimate play structure for his two little girls! The 18-wheeler made the big delivery to Enterprise on Friday and nine boxes, 4 men (with Camdyn supervising the entire day) and 12 hours later, the rain ended the giant construction party. With only a few more pieces to go however, the play has already begun....and we definitely promise more pictures to come!

Opposites Attract

Although Azla and I are often joking about how different Camdyn and Jack are, on our trip to Portland they proved that opposites really do attract! From hitting golf balls in Jack's front yard, to playing drums at the zoo, to tearing up Sunday School, these two partners in crime followed in their Mommas' footsteps to create quite the cute, crazy pair of friends!

Catch a Wave........

Though it definitely wasn't the warm waters of Hawaii, or the tropical beaches of Mexico, Camdyn and Lilly both loved their first beach experience. With Dad away on a fire in Alaska, Mom and the girls packed up, swung by Portland to pick up Grandma and headed to the Oregon Coast for three days of sand, surf, rain coats and very non-beach weather. From sand castle building to sea gull chasing, it was a great chance just to get away and relax. Thanks Grandma for a wonderful mini-vacation!

The Simple Things

Although I often wonder where Camdyn gets the energy to run around like the Energizer Bunny 16 hours a day, anyone who knows her mama is not the least bit surprised by her high levels of intensity. However, while I flit about from one place to the next worrying about work, the family, paying the mortgage, my students and what's for dinner, Camdyn spends her hours fascinated by the simple things around her. As she becomes more independent, and observant, I have come to realize that perhaps my favorite things about being a parent is being forced to slow down and take in the small things..........and in this arena, Camdyn is my greatest teacher.

This afternoon as I rushed into the house, juggling Lilly and no fewer than 12 bags of groceries, my favorite toddler nearly tripped me up as she slammed on the breaks to stop and help the tiniest little moth stuck in a little puddle of water on our patio.....funny how these few precious moments ended up being the highlight of both of our day.

Lilly.......the Breakfast of Champions

While Camdyn used to enjoy starting her morning off with her Yoplait and oatmeal, the past several days she has happily made "me baby sister Lilly" her initial am request. The two quietly lounge about on the couch holding hands and stuffed animals while Mom happily takes in the sisterly love.....and several cups of coffee!
