An Amazing Investment
I'm not going to lie. I may have thought we went a bit over the top with the introduction of the neighborhood's largest play structure in our backyard. Over the past year, my initial thoughts have been repeatedly enforced as more than a handful of children have mistaken our backyard swing set for a city park. However, as the sun begins to shine, and Dad begins to travel, I am beginning to embrace our small scale playground for the wonderful investment that it was. From sandbox, to rock wall, to trapeze bar, the girls are smitten and content in the comfort of their own backyard, which makes the sometimes long afternoons in the Momma's life down right doable! Thank you Dad....as usual Father usually knows best.

All Grown Up
Apparently, our dear little Lilly has been taking lessons on independence from her older sister...and although our mild mannered youngest rarely voices her opinion, she has recently decided that she would like to take full responsibility of self-feeding. While we have always encouraged her to fully develop her pincher grasp, offering finger foods aplenty, silverware is unfortunately a very big part of this new food equation....with her often refusing to eat without a utensil in hand.
While the mother in me knows this self-care should be encouraged, the housekeeper in me is frantically scrubbing sticky floors, scraping dried yogurt off every surface imaginable, folding ridiculously stained clothing and obviously, blogging with pride about her independent little girl!

Owl Hollow
Despite waking up to snowflakes numerous times this week, the Weer Girls cannot be stopped! We have been making afternoon trips with our friend Jonah to visit some of our favorite hiking spots, and burn off some of this pent up winter energy. While we have always loved the fish hatchery, we were extra excited to find something other than fish as a sign that spring is on its way.....A momma Great Horned Owl and her two owlets (yes, that is what they are called, I googled it)! Although us Moms could have stared at the wildlife all day, we were quickly reminded there were sticks to throw and fish to feed.....and we happily obliged to follow the lead of our two trail blazing toddlers!
