Ready to Smile
Last night we were finally ready to tear ourselves away from our fire truck toy (of course she plays with fire trucks) and smile for the camera! As you can tell, our little lady is super happy about her newly refined sitting skills!

A Case of Serous Bed Head
When I was pregnant, Jeff and I used to fear the birth of a short, hairy troll. Not only are both of us fairly slight in stature, we also have been blessed (or plagued) with fair skin and dark hair. So, it was no surprised when our little girl came out with an abundant black mane, as well as a full body lining of dark fuzz. However, it appears that our hair problems had just begun.
After a brief bought with the nasty bald spot, Camdyn's massive hair growth began. Unfortunately, in this department she appears to be her mom's daughter and is rapidly developing the finest, straggliest hair possible. It also only appears to be growing in one location...straight down the back of the neck! After much debate about cutting or not cutting the mullet, we decided to roll with it and see what crazy stage our locks decided to undertake next........thus we have now welcomed the days of Bad Bed Head!
Although I work fairly hard to slick the hair down each morning, there is no telling what may happen during our afternoon snooze. Yesterday, on a short car ride home from the store, my well-groomed angel decided to get some shut-eye. I don't know how she managed it while being strapped into her car seat, but when I crept around to unbuckle her, this crazy-haired monster is what I found! Although there is no way to capture her locks in all their greatness with a photo, if you zoom in on the pictures, you get a fairly good idea of what I encounter!

Sitting Pretty and Too Busy to Smile!
In addition to crawling, we are officially sitting on our own! In fact, we have already moved onto the art of kneeling and, while checking out the glass knobs on the entertainment center this weekend, we even tried to pull ourselves up to standing! Although Mom and Dad are in NO hurry for that, we are happy that we are no longer propping pillows up all over the house.
While chasing Camdyn away from the cords, outlets, dogfood, houseplants, and our food has proven to have its challenges, I have to admit, it is VERY nice to no longer be the sole source of entertainment in her life! She has become rather content to explore and play on her own. So much so, she really wanted nothing to do with Mom, the camera and a photoshoot!

Our Little Animal Lover
The more we take Camdyn around animals, the more we realize it isn't just Barley that gets her excited! After a quick visit with Mopsy the bunny, it was obvious no matter how tired, how grumpy or how bad our teeth hurt, an animal makes it all better! Sorry for the bad photo quality........if you have tried to photograph kids and animals together, you know you can't be picky about silly things like lighting!

Rock-a-Bye Baby..........
Although Mom held her breath through just about the entire encounter, Camdyn has officially become a seasoned swinger! Ashley decided her super busy cousin was ready to fly the friendly skies and carted Camdyn off to the baby swing during family dinner on Sunday. After easing my initial fear with her squeals of joy, I ran for the camera and captured this exciting "first" for all those Camdyn fans to enjoy! Despite the rapidly approaching change of seasons, I think we will be investing in a swing sometime soon!

So Much For Interior Design
Pre-Camdyn, Jeff and I would often leave the house of new parents swearing that when WE had a baby, our house would NEVER be over-run with the toys of our children. When I became pregnant, we again discussed our dislike of large, colorful, loud apparatus cluttering the living room and re-vowed to keep our home free of such "junk"....... and for the first several months we actually succeeded.
Then this crawling thing happened, and we have found it near impossible to keep our child contained or occupied for more than a minute without total chaos ensuing. Thus, the introduction of the excersaucer! Although we can still hold strong that we didn't actually purchase this large, colorful item (a big thank you hug to Uncle Ian and Aunt Heidi).......when I tripped over it on my way through the living room last night, I realized yet another battle of this baby-raising adventure had definitely been lost!

Even More Like Dad.......
6 Month Snapshot
I wish I could claim this "snapshot" idea as my own, but I actually stole it from another blog. I just loved it too much to pass up the opportunity:
At 1/2 of a year Camdyn............
**loves bananas, Barley, bath time, her feet, the itsy-bitsy spider, Popsicles, having someone blow on her tummy, being outside, sleeping in with daddy, peek-a-boo and practicing her army crawl
**Is a string bean, weighing in at 13 pounds, 3 ounces (10th percentile) and measuring 26.5 inches (50th percentile)
**dislikes bedtime, nap time, sitting still(unless she is sick or sleepy), mom leaving the room, having her face wiped and being burped in the middle of her bottle.
**Can sit pretty well, army crawl after Barley, get up on her hands and knees and rock like a mad woman, make "ah" and "oh" sounds, find a toy under a blanket, eat real bananas, and turn the pages of a book.
**Can be summarized by the words: busy, curious, tenacious, adorable and absolutely the best thing to happen to her Mom and Dad!

In Case You Haven't Heard it for Yourself............
Every night we have a little routine just before bedtime. In addition to the usual bottle, bath and book that most infants part-take in, we go through a dramatic emotional roller coaster! Not long after we start yawning and rubbing our eyes, we usually start finding anything mom does absolutely hysterical! From making fish faces, to train noises, to simply raising our hands above our heads.....we spend 1-2 minutes in body shaking laughter. Then, just as quickly as it started, the giggling fit ends, giving way to the hair raising crying and screaming. In fact, the transition occurs so quickly, that it often takes a minute or two for mom and dad distinguish between the sounds! The beauty of the routine.......about 2 minutes of unconsolable wailing and its lights out....no more peeps to be made!
Since Gamma and Pop Pop aren't lucky enough to hear the laughter in person, last night I filmed part one of our nightly emotional roller coaster...let me know if you want me to include the crying next time!

Sorry for the Delay
Geez.....who knew we had so many fans?!?!?! Poor Mom has been trying to make it through life without Dad (and the most horrendous cold) in a Nyquil induced stupor and she keeps getting questions from Camdyn admirers wanting updates! I promise we will be up and running soon....with Dad back from his fire and Mom on the mend....next week we will be back on track! Keep checking....I promise, we just get cuter every day!
