Twinkle, Twinkle Little Meteor.........
Dad had the fabulous idea of loading up the truck and heading to a higher elevation last weekend for the Meteor Shower. So come dusk, we hit the road, drove to the top of Snow Hollow Hill and sleeping bagged up in the bed of the pick-up to check out the gorgeous summer sky. Even though it was only Mom and Dad spotting dozens of meteors, while the girls mostly spotted the back of the eyelids, it was definitely a great Summer memory in the making.

An Amazing "Daycation!"
As summer is quickly coming to a close, I have been feeling the need to celebrate not only the sun, but the extra time with my girls. So any errand with the slightest possibility of adventure has turned into an opportunity to play. Heading to Washington for a Costco run over the weekend was no exception, and seemed like the perfect opportunity for a bike ride along the snake, a picnic lunch and a visit to the local water park! I can honestly say that the rewards far exceeded the efforts, and we literally had one of the greatest days of the summer tubing down the Lazy River, splashing in the fountains and getting nearly swallowed in the wave pool!

TeePee Time
On a firewood mission several weeks ago, Mom and the girls needed to find a safe place to hang while Daddy fell a tree or two. Unfortunately, the outing was going terribly wrong with 2 kids crying to go home........until Mom can up with the amazing idea of building a teepee! Although it didn't show, Camdyn and I worked diligently until all the wood was loaded, creating an architectural masterpiece that would have made the native Nez Pierce proud (perhaps a slight exaggeration...but it was good). While we were sad to leave our humble abode, we were thrilled to return on a recent huckleberry hunt to find our frame still standing....and this time we had little friends to enjoy in our labor!

Rolling on the River
With Daddy off fighting fires, Mom and the girls headed up to the
Cousins' camp site and joined them for several dozen "floats" down the
river. Since the water was less than a foot deep, and the current far
from raging, both girls were THRILLED that Mom let them hit the tubes
alone and ride the river solo.....and Mom enjoyed propping her feet up and soaking in the sun.

And Then There Was None.....................
After a long afternoon, this Mom requested a "Mommy Timeout." Enjoying my cup of coffee, I was amazed at the lack of screaming, whining and cries for help that usually dominate my supposed 15 minutes of quiet. Even more alarming, was the lack of response when told they could come out of the room. As my stomach filled with dread,I knew immediately we were in trouble. However, even I couldn't have imagined opening the door and being welcomed by this.
While I understand that over the years of parenting there are events much more traumatic than sibling beauticians, I cannot lie.......as I looked from the box to my smiling Lilly, I fell to my knees, let out a scream, and welcomed the river of tears that sprang to my eyes. For my favorite toddler with perhaps the greatest long blond locks ever, now looked like this.
After frantically visiting half the hair dressers in Enterprise, it was established that not much could be done, at least to the six places where the scalp was clearly visible...............and so we wait, and wait, and dry our eyes as the hair returns. However, in typically Lilly fashion, she is still smiling, loving her new style and somehow making near bald more beautiful than ever!
