Happy Birthday Grandma!!!!!!

One year ago today, we surprised Grandma with ultra-sound pictures in her birthday card! In fact, we even got the tech to write "baby loves grandma" on the images......and, although we don't have quite the surprise this year, Camdyn saw the opportunity for a birthday picture tradition in the making! So, Happy Birthday Grandma!!! We love you so much!!!!

Girl's Best Friend

There is little doubt in my mind that Barley is going to be the first word uttered from Camdyn's mouth. In fact, I am pretty sure that if Camdyn could talk, she would let us know that although she is appreciative of Dad and I taking care of bottles, baths, diapers and all basic needs, Barley is by far her favorite member of the family! Although it has been quite some time since I have posted pictures of our dynamic duo, there has not been a day when the love hasn't been shared! And no matter how major the meltdown, we have found that one lick from Barley can ease any pain and put a smile on that precious little face!

How Did I Get So Lucky?!?!?

Camdyn is still baffled by how unbelievably wonderful all of her "Aunties" are! After a tragic camera theft several months ago, Auntie Fara was kind enough to donate her old digital camera to the Weer Family so that the blog could forge on without missing a moment of Little Camdyn's life! We were all so thankful and were having a blast snapping away....however, unknown to us, the fun had just begun!

Last week, we arrived home to a beautifully wrapped package only to find that Auntie Az, Auntie Sarah, Auntie Kristin and Kristin's mom Vicki had gone above and beyond friendship duty and sent a us an awesome Kodak Easy Share!!!!!

Hooray for amazing, loving friends and TONS of more blogging photos to come....including Camdyn's first self portrait below!

There's Nothing Like a Good Book

For the past 4 1/2 months, Jeff and I have been dilligent about reading to Camdyn each day for at least 10-15 minutes. Since literacy has always been a passion of mine, I have had fun researching age-appropriate books and strategies for promoting early reading. I have loved seeing Camdyn go from snoozing during our story times, to following the pages as they are turned. I had a HUGE moment last week, when she began turning the pages of her board books while we read...but little did I know what was in store today!

I placed Camdyn on the couch during my shower (with plenty of pillow baracades of course),surrounded by several toys and her favorite new book, White on Black. I came out of the shower and with no staging at all, I witnessed my little lady reading ALL BY HERSELF!!!! With only a towel, I ran for the camera and got a few fabulous shots of our book worm in action!

Montana, Moose, Morels.....Oh My!

What do you get when you cross a Grandma, her 2 daughters, 2 grandchildren and a mini-van?!?!?!?!?! Our wonderful, chaotic weekend trip to Missoula for a family reunion! That's right, on Friday morning Grandma Julie showed up in her rented mini-van to drive Myself, Heidi, Ashley and Camdyn to Montana for a girl's weekend! While I didn't get near the pictures I wanted to, I did capture two of the highlights....

1. The large moose on the side of the highway: Only in the middle of nowhere do you find such a truley crazy and amazing sight! While Ashley was super excited, all of us older girls were a little afraid of how a Moose vs. Mini-Van battle would end up, so we took off after a few quick photos.

2. The Missoula Farmers Market: This was something Jeff and I loved when we lived in Montana and I was definitely dreaming of a return to the cute, wonderful little city! The produce was amazing, especially the morel mushrooms that were absolutely HUGE.....making all the ones we had ever found around here look like little dwarves!

There were many more fun memories, like Camdyn's first swim in a pool (which she loved), but for the most part, my little princess was a traveling, teething monster and was not in the mood for the camera! By the end of the weekend, both mom and baby were exhausted...as shown by Camdyn about 5 seconds after we arrived home! Despite the sleepiness all travelers promised another girls trip soon! Thanks Grandma for the great time!

Fourth Months Already!?!?!?!

It is hard to believe that Camdyn has doubled her age since her last well-baby visit.....but much to Mom's dismay it's true! Yesterday marked our 4th month of life in this crazy world and today brought about our scheduled trip to the doctor. And what did we learn during our journey......

1. We truley take after mom in our stature. At 11 and 1/2 pounds, our petite little peanut falls just under the 5th percentile in weight! But don't worry...she made up for it with her 25 inches, placing her in the 65th percentile for height!

2. We are ready for food! We got the okay (actually the recommendation), to start some cereal and gradually move to single fruits and veggies! No doubt, this will lead to more blogging in the near future!

3. Shots hurt both baby and mom, and definitely turned our little angel into a Crankenstien for the rest of the day! It was hard to get a picture of Camdyn's stylish outfit with a smile.....or with her eyes open at all after all that crying.

4. Shoes are amazing! In honor of her 4th month appointment, Camdyn sported her first pair of shoes....or at least the first pair to stay on for more than 5 minutes!

A Little Slice of Americana

Perhaps it is my genuine love for nostalgia that leads me to life in a small town. I literally was near tears watching the Wallowa County 4th of July parade as it slowly meandered its way down main street last Friday. From kids on bikes clicking from the playing cards clothespinned to their wheels, to the collection of antique tractors driven by farmers ranging from 8-98, I loved every minute of it!

This year's event however, was extremely near and dear to my heart! In 1908 my Great-Grandmother was the Grand Marshall of the parade, serving as Little Miss Liberty for Wallowa County. One Hundered years later, I am honored to say, that my niece Ashley has returned the tiara to the family and was leading the parade as "Little Miss 4th of July!" Camdyn was lucky enough to steal a photo opp with Little Miss Royalty herself.....and who knows, maybe we should start working on her own little princess wave for a 4th of July parade yet to come!
