Why it's a Classic
It doesn't matter how much baby brain research Infantino or Baby Einstein may do. Nor does it matter what cool lights and sounds new technologies may bring to toys.........the most simple, classic playthings will never fail to entertain a child. Just ask Ms. Camdyn when she found a Fisher Price "popper" that is at least 40years old. Despite my intense hate for loud toys, I couldn't help but smile......

This One's for Pop Pop
As we were casually strolling along the streets of Enterprise, admiring the antique automobiles at the British car show this weekend, Dad shared a story with mom and Camdyn that they had never heard before..........
A long, long time ago, far away in Carlise,Pennsylvania, Camdyn's Pop-Pop had a beautiful classic British car. Apparently, Gamma and Pop Pop would spend days cruising around Pennsylvania without a care in the world, with the top down in their shiny green MGA. Not too many years later, they were excited to be expecting their first baby, and because these were pre-ultra sound days, super surprised when on November 1st 1972 they ended up twins! Alas, knowing that the luxury must now make way for the practical, the classic car was quickly replaced with a family friendly stations wagon, and family vacations soon took precendence over weekend cruising....Pop Pop loved his new twins and was happy to be a family man, but the parting with the car was still bitter sweet.....
Jeff always promised his dad if won the lottery, a similar automobile would miraculously return to the Weer family garage. Unfortunately, we have yet to make our millions in the lotto, but figured a picture of your beloved classic (in red) is a great start! We miss you Gamma and Pop Pop!

Camydn's New Look............
We have found a way to tame Camdyn's ever-growing mullett!! Pony tails seem to be the solution to our hair nightmare....and although we can't seem to get them off to the sides as mom would like, I have to admit, she looks pretty darn cute with them standing straight up! However, this new look just confirms she is growing up way too fast..........

Princess Camdyn
From the moment Jeff screamed "It's a girl!" there has been one phase in Camdyn's life I have been dreading. For many moms its the thought of sleep deprivation, potty training fiasco or the terrible twos that send chills up their spine. However, from the very beginning I have feared the moment that the inevitable Princess obsession began!
As a hater of most things exceedingly feminine, I have done a fairly decent job steering clear of lacy dresses, frilly pink sweaters and patent leather dress shoes. We have worked hard to assure a gender neutral balance of toys and books. We have even delighted in her love of rocks, dirt and cars. Unfortunately, last night I saw the first sign of defeat. Having dinner with Uncle Ian and Aunt Heidi, Camdyn emerged from the toy room with her cousin Ashley smiling from ear to ear at the new toy she had found! While it is a constant battle to keep most anything on her head, she apparently was quite content to sport her new "crown" for the greater part of the evening!
Much to my dismay, the score apparently stands: Princesses 1, Mom 0.

Why Everything Takes Longer with A Toddler......
Both Jeff and I grew up in households where chores were a part of being a family...and although she is hardly a year old, we thought it is never to early to start teaching responsibility! Thus far, Camdyn has been assigned several jobs each day, but one seems especially near-and-dear to her heart. Since Barley is obviously her favorite member of the family, we felt it was only right she take some ownership of her pet.
Each night, before we sit down to dinner, Camdyn helps to feed Barley her one scoop of food. However, in our quest to raising a responsible daughter, we are having to learn a lesson in extreme patience ourselves. Wanting to do everything herself, and already demonstrating some of her parents' obsessive-compulsive tendencies, Camdyn takes her job VERY seriously. As this video demonstrates, she wants to make sure she gets Barley all the food she needs, NO MATTER how long it may take.......
*Sorry about the poor video quality...next time I will not rely on natural lighting alone!

Missing: 1 Baby Girl
While doing one of our periodic photo shoots, I was struck by a sudden surge of emotion. The little girl posing for each shot was just that, a little girl! No matter the angle from which I looked, that little baby that needed her momma to meet every demand was no where to be seen...........scary just how fast it happened!
